My research interests include: Urban studies, design and computing science based solutions. Focus is on investigation and recognition of patterns and creating solutions & opportunities using technology and human-centred design.

I have worked in the research and development of Internet of Things technologies involving Big Data platforms, Data Science and Machine Learning algorithms and low-cost Wireless Sensor Network based solutions. Some of the professional experiences are mentioned here and the work published can be read here.

I also have an active interest in citizen science projects and the use of Open data & technology for governance, economics and democracy focused initiatives.

Completed a course on “Tackling the challenges of Big Data” from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Professional Education.


What is it that we really require from the scientists and technologists? I should answer: We need methods and equipment which are:
– cheap enough so that they are accessible to virtually everyone;
– suitable for small-scale application; and
– compatible with man’s need for creativity.
